The Cástulo in the 21st Century project’s audio-visual team, led by Francisco Arias de Haro, has worked for several years to bring new technological solutions to the study and presentation of the site and finds. There are three primary areas in which technology has been deployed so far:

  • Data recording and organization, in the form of a special system of paper forms, scanning, and a database linked to the site
  • Visual documentation, using drone-based photography and the technique of photogrammetry for the reconstruction of the excavation process
  • Digital reconstruction of buildings and objects, also using photogrammetry and virtual reality technology such as the Oculus Rift viewer
